Access To
- The Zoology Lecture Theatre is located on the lower ground floor of the Zoology Building, to the left from the main lift (off the B22-B43 corridor).

- The most accessible route has step-free level access and manual doors.
- There is no signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access into Lecture Theatre ZG18.
- There are double manual doors which open away from you.
- One of the doors was locked at the time of the survey.
- The locked door can be opened on request .
- The width of the opening is 80cm.
- The doors have a high visual contrast.
- There are a second set of double manual doors which open away from you.
- The width of the opening is 143cm.
- The second set of doors have a high visual contrast.
- There is also stepped access from the ground floor, to the left from the main entrance.
- The ground floor entrance has 72cm wide double doors (one door was locked) which open towards you, followed by steps as you enter.
- There are 3 clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- There is step-free level access to the speaker’s area and front row only.
- The following areas have stepped access: the lecture theatre seating.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is not a hearing assistance system.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey, with unshaded light sources.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There is a designated space for a wheelchair user.
- The designated space for a wheelchair user is located in the front row.
- There is step-free level access to the designated space surveyed.
- Companions sit behind you and next to you.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs without armrests, stools and lecture chairs.
- Furniture available in the room includes: tables.
- Some chairs are fixed.
- The surface heights are not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of the surfaces is not suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the speaker's desk/table is 92cm.
- This room has a projector screen and a whiteboard.
- There are alternating handrails at the steps leading to the rear rows.
