Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free level.
  • The approach to the front entrance is step-free level and has dropped kerbs without tactile paving and a pedestrian crossing.
    The approach to the rear entrance from the rear car park is step-free level with uneven surfaces and speed bumps.
  • The Anglesea building has four entrances with the most accessible entrance being the Anglesea front entrance which has automatic doors and step-free level access to the ground floor.
    The Anglesea rear entrance, North Wing entrance and South Wing entrances all provide access to the ground floor.
  • The entrances at the front and rear are signed as 'Anglesea Building' and the North Wing and South Wing entrance have no signage.
  • The Anglesea front entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor of the building.
  • The Anglesea rear entrance provides step-free access to the ground floor via a slight ramp with handrails on both sides or 6 unmarked steps with handrails on both sides.
    The North Wing entrance provides step-free access to the ground floor North Wing teaching corridor via a slight ramp with a handrail on the right going up or alternatively 3 unmarked steps with handrails on both sides. This entrance is accessed via swipe card only.
    The South Wing entrance provides step-free access to the ground floor teaching corridor of the South Wing via a slight ramp with a handrail on the left going up or 3 clearly marked steps with a handrail on both sides. This entrance is accessed via swipe card only.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access via lift throughout the majority of the building, except for the third floor which is accessed by stairs only.
  • On the ground floor of the North Wing there are 2 steep ramps to access rooms 0.04-0.12 and the North Wing exit to Burnaby Road.
    On the ground floor of the South Wing there are 2 steep ramps to access rooms 0.19-0.25 and the South Wing exit to Burnaby Road.
    There is a steep ramp to access Lab 0.31 and a slight ramp to access Lab 0.32 on the ground floor.
    There is a slight ramp to access lift 56 on the ground floor of the South Wing corridor.
  • There is a steep ramp to access Computer Suite 2.03 on the second floor.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish or patterns.
    The flooring in the seating area on the ground floor and in the School of Law on the first floor consists of carpet.
  • There are resting areas in the ground floor main entrance foyer and on the first floor in the School of Law with a mixture of seating available.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is available in many areas throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors in some circulation areas in the School of Law on the first floor and there are doors permanently held open throughout the majority of the main circulation areas.
    There are also manual doors to enter and exit the stairwells on the first and second floors.

    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located on the ground floor of the South Wing corridor and on the first floor of the North Wing, in the stairwell.
    • The shared step-free toilet facilities are located on the first floor in the School of Law corridor, however this is for staff only.
  • Washroom and Shower Facilities View
    • Standard shower facilities are located within the female standard toilets on the ground floor of the South Wing, and within the male standard toilets in the first floor stairwell of the North Wing.

Stairs (Second Floor to Third Floor)

  • The stairs surveyed are located along the second floor main corridor, opposite room 2.01.

  • The steps have low visual contrast markings and have a handrail that switches sides.
  • The handrails are not easy to grip.
  • The handrails do not cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
