Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free level with uneven surfaces.
  • The approach to the front of the building from the Conference Centre car park is step-free level.
    The approach to the rear accessible entrance from the car park is step-free level with some uneven surfaces and speed bumps along the route, which to avoid them, may create narrow walkways.
    The approach to the rear accessible entrance from the Langstone Accommodation Blocks is step-free level with uneven surfaces and bollards on the approach.
    The minimum width of the bollards is 115cm.
  • The Conference Centre has 3 entrances.
    The rear accessible entrance and the car park entrance provide step-free access via slight or steep slopes to the ground floor of the building.
    The rear accessible entrance has a push-pad activated automatic door and the car park entrance has double manual doors.
    There is an additional entrance located at the rear of the building on the left hand side which gives access to the changing room block named 'Changing Room B'.
    This block has a changing room with adaptations and male standard changing facilities on the ground floor and female standard changing facilities on the first floor only.
  • The car park entrance has no signage.
    The rear accessible entrance is signed as 'Langstone Centre'.
    The changing room entrance is signed as 'Changing Room B'.
  • The rear accessible entrance provides step-free access via steep ramp to the ground floor main entrance foyer.
  • The car park entrance provides step-free access via slight slope to the ground floor of the Conference Centre.
    This entrance has 2 sets of double manual doors.
    The Changing Room B entrance provides step-free access via steep ramp to the ground floor of the changing room block.
  • There is no internal access between the Conference Centre and the Changing Room B block.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on the ground floor only.
    There is stepped access to areas on the first floor of the Conference Centre and stepped access to the female changing rooms in Changing Block B.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and carpeted with a good colour contrast.
    Surfaces that are vinyl or laminate with a shiny finish are in the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of the Conference Centre or within Changing Room B.
  • There are no resting areas in the main circulation corridors.

  • There are manual doors and doors permanently held open in some corridors of the building.

    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located along the ground floor main corridor of the Conference Centre and to the left, and within the male changing rooms on the ground floor of Changing Room B.
    • The male and female toilet facilities are located along the first floor main corridor of the Conference Centre and to the left.
    • The female toilet facilities are located within the female changing facilities on the first floor of Changing Room B.

    • The changing facilities which have adaptations are located on the ground floor of Changing Room B.
