Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, you can access floor 2 of the Austin Pearce Building (AP) via the link bridge on level 3 of the Rik Medlik Building (MS).
      Exit the Austin Pearce Building (AP) via the main entrance and take the slight ramp on the left.
      Continue following the path towards the bus stop and turn right at the end, making your way towards the Rik Medlik Building (MS) main entrance.
      After entering the Rik Medlik Building (MS), continue straight ahead and the lift lobby will be located on the right.
      Take the lift to level 3.
      Upon exiting the lift, turn left and continue along the corridor and then turn right at the end. The entrance to the link bridge is located at the end of the corridor.
      Follow the link bridge and you will enter floor 2 of the Austin Pearce Building (AP).
    • The approximate length of the route is 120m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there are no alternative step-free routes to access floors 1 and 3.
      There is step-free access to exit the building from the ground floor via the main or rear entrances.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floor 1 and 3)

  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • If you are on floors 1 or 3 and the lift is not working, there are no alternative step-free routes to access the ground floor or to exit the building. There is no lift access to floor 3 of Austin Pearce Building (AP), the lift only goes to the ground floor, floor 1 and floor 2.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floor 2)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on floor 2 and the lift is not working, you can access the ground floor via the link bridge on level 3 of the Rik Medlik Building (MS).
      To the left of the lift on floor 2, go through the automatic doors and continue along the teaching room corridor until you reach a set of manual doors at the end.
      Go through another set of manual doors and across the link bridge until you enter level 3 of the Rik Medlik Building (MS).
      Continue straight along the corridor passing the seating area on your left and then take the next left.
      At the end of the corridor turn right and you will reach the lifts. Take the lift to level 1.
      As you exit the lift, turn right then left and continue straight until you reach the Rik Medlik Building (MS) main entrance.
      Exit the building and turn left, passing the bus stop on your right.
      Turn left and follow the pathway towards the Austin Pearce Building (AP).
      Go up the slight ramp to the right of the main entrance and enter via the automatic doors and you will reach the ground floor of the building.

    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • There is no alternative step-free access to floors 1 and 3 of the Austin Pearce Building (AP) if the lift is not working on floor 2.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.
