Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is alternative step-free access to floor 1 via the Edward Jenner Building (AX) front entrance using the ramp on the lake side.
      Exit the building via the main entrance and turn left, continuing up the sloped pathway until you reach the ramp next to the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Go up the ramp and turn left at the top and you will enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via floor 1.
    • The approximate length of the route is 60m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is alternative step-free access to floor 2 via the shared AY/AZ lift located on the ground floor of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Exit the building via the main entrance and turn left, continuing up the sloped pathway until you reach the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) front lift entrance on the left.
      There are bollards along the route which are 80cm wide.
      Enter the building and take the shared AY/AZ lift to floor 2.
      Exit the lift and take the door on the right and continue along the AYO2 teaching room corridor until you reach the stairwell at the end.
      Continue across the stairwell and enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via floor 2.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 115m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • There is step-free access to exit the Edward Jenner building (AX) on the ground floor via the main entrance.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floor 1)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on floor 1 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to the ground floor using a ramp on the lake side of the building.
      Turn left and follow the floor 1 lab corridor all the way to the end.
      Pass through the student space until you reach the Edward Jenner Building (AX) front entrance on the right.
      Exit the building and take the ramp on the left down towards the lake side.
      Turn right at the end and continue along the sloped pathway until you reach the Edward Jenner Building (AX) main entrance on the right.
      Enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via the ground floor.
    • The approximate length of the route is 90m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on floor 1 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to access floor 2 using the AY/AZ shared lift on the ground floor of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Turn left and follow the floor 1 lab corridor all the way to the end.
      Pass through the student space until you reach the Edward Jenner Building (AX) front entrance on the right.
      Exit the building and take the ramp on the left down towards the lake side.
      At the end of the ramp turn left and continue along the path until you reach the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) front lift entrance on the left.
      There are bollards along the route which are 80cm wide.
      Enter the building and take the shared AY/AZ lift to floor 2.
      Exit the lift and take the door on the right and continue along the AYO2 teaching room corridor until you reach the stairwell at the end.
      Continue across the stairwell and enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via floor 2.

    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.

Alternative Routes (Floor 2)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on floor 2 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to access the ground floor via the AY/AZ shared lift on floor 2 of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Turn left and continue along the lab corridor until you reach the shared stairwell at the end.
      Cross the stairwell and enter floor 2 of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Continue along the AY02 teaching room corridor until the end and exit the corridor into the lift lobby.
      Take the AY/AZ shared lift to the ground floor.
      Exit the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) via the front lift entrance and turn right.
      Continue down the sloped pathway until you reach the Edward Jenner Building (AX) main entrance on the right.
      There are bollards along the route which are 80cm wide.
      Enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via the ground floor.
    • The approximate length of the route is 165m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on floor 2 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to access floor 1 via the AY/AZ shared lift on floor 2 of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Turn left and continue along the lab corridor until you reach the shared stairwell at the end.
      Cross the stairwell and enter floor 2 of the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY).
      Continue along the AY02 teaching room corridor until the end and exit the corridor into the lift lobby.
      Take the AY/AZ shared lift to the ground floor.
      Exit the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) via the front lift entrance and turn right.
      Continue along the sloped pathway until you reach the ramp to the Edward Jenner Building (AX) front entrance on the right.
      There are bollards along the route which are 80cm wide.
      Continue up the ramp and turn left at the top and enter the Edward Jenner Building (AX) via floor 1.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 160m.
    • Access along the route includes slight ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
