Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the AA/AB lift is not working, you can use the lift in the Alan Turing Building (BB) to access floors 2 to 4 via the link bridges.
      Use the AB entrance to exit the building and cross the road to the BB entrance opposite.
      The lift is located to the right in the reception area.
    • The approximate length of the route is 30m.
    • Access along the route is step free and level.
    • There are automatic doors along this route, which are push pad activated.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • It is also possible to access floors 2 to 4 via the AC/AD lift.
      Use the AB entrance to exit the building, turn left and continue along the road until you reach the platform lift at the AC entrance.
      Take the platform lift to the entrance and then the AC/AD lift can be used to access AA and AB Buildings.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 75m.
    • Access along the route includes a slight slope.
    • There are automatic doors along this route.

    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floor 1)

  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • There are no alternative lift routes from the AA/AB lift in the staff area on the first floor.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floors 2 to 4)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on floors 2, 3 or 4, and the AA/AB lift is not working, you can use the lift in the Alan Turing Building (BB).
      To access this lift, exit the lift lobby to the left and use the link bridge to access BB.
      Go the through the stairwell lobby and the BB lift is to right.
      You can also use this lift to exit the buildings via the ground floor of BB.
    • The approximate length of the route is 40m.
    • Access along the route is step free and level.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on floor 3 and the AA/AB lift is not working, you can also use the lift in the Lewis Carroll Building (AC/AD lift).
      To access this lift, exit the lift lobby to the rear right, via the Department of Engineering, and go along the corridors, through the teaching spaces, until you eventually reach the AC lift.
      This route is also possible on floors 2 and 4 but it requires key code access through restricted teaching areas and there are some steep slopes in corridors.
      You can use the AC/AD lift to exit the buildings however it will be via platform lift or a steep ramp once outside.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 175m.
    • Access along the route includes steep ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.

Alternative Routes (Floor 5)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on floor 5 and the AA/AB lift is not working, you can also use the lift in the Lewis Carroll Building (AC).
      To access this lift, exit the lift lobby to the rear right, via the School of Law, and go along the corridors, through the teaching spaces, until you eventually reach the AC/AD lift.
      You can use the AC/AD lift to exit the buildings however it will be via platform lift or a steep ramp once outside.
    • The approximate length of the route is 180m.
    • Access along the route includes slight slopes.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.
