Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to access the first floor via the goods lift located in the staff kitchen area.
      At the lift, turn left and continue towards the Hillside Coffee counter.
      To the left of the counter, enter the staff area and turn right, heading towards the goods lift at the end.
      Take the lift to the UG floor (first floor).
      As you exit the lift turn right and there is an entrance to the first floor via the Hillside Food Court.
      There is also step-free access to exit the building via the Hillside Coffee entrance (ground floor) or the Hillside Food Court entrance (first floor).
      A member of staff may be required for assistance.
    • The approximate length of the route is 25m.
    • Access along the route includes a slight ramp.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to access the second floor via the goods lift located in the staff kitchen area.
      At the lift, turn left and continue towards the Hillside Coffee counter.
      To the left of the counter, enter the staff area and turn right, heading towards the goods lift at the end.
      Take the lift to the floor 1 (second floor).
      Exit the lift and turn left through the staff kitchen area and the entrance to the second floor corridor is located directly ahead.
      There are obstructions in the staff kitchen with the minimum width of the route being 73cm.
      There is not an exit for the building on the second floor.
      A member of staff may be required for assistance.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 30m.
    • Access along the route includes a slight ramp.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (First Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the first floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to the ground floor via the goods lift in the staff area.
      At the lift, take the entrance on the right and enter the first floor Hillside Food Court area.
      Pass through the food court until you reach the entrance to the staff area on the right side of the hall.
      Enter the staff area and there will be a goods lift on the left.
      Take the lift to the LG floor (ground floor).
      As you exit the lift, pass through the staff office and exit via the doorway on the left.
      You will then enter the ground floor of the building via Hillside Coffee.
      There is step-free access to exit the building on the ground floor via the Hillside Coffee entrance.
      A member of staff may be required for assistance.
    • The approximate length of the route is 60m.
    • Access along the route includes a slight ramp.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on the first floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative step-free route to the second floor via the goods lift in the staff area.
      At the lift, take the entrance on the right and enter the first floor Hillside Food Court area.
      Pass through the food court until you reach the entrance to the staff area on the right side of the hall.
      Enter the staff area and there will be a goods lift on the left.
      Take the lift to floor 1 (second floor).
      Exit the lift via the staff kitchen area and the entrance to the second floor will be located on the left.
      There are obstructions in the staff kitchen with the minimum width of the route being 73cm.
      There is no exit for the building on the second floor.

    • Access along the route is step free and level.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.

Alternative Routes (Second Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the second floor and the lift is not working, there is a step-free alternative route to access the ground floor via the goods lift in the staff area.
      At the lift, turn left and enter the second floor meeting room corridor.
      Turn right and follow the corridor until you reach the entrance to the staff kitchen area.
      This door may be locked on occasion so a member of staff may be required for assistance.
      Enter the staff kitchen and turn right towards the goods lift.
      There are obstructions within the staff kitchen with the minimum width of the route being 73cm.
      Take the goods lift to the LG floor (ground floor).
      As you exit the lift, pass through the staff office and exit via the doorway on the left.
      You will then enter the ground floor of the building via Hillside Coffee.
      There is step-free access to exit the building on the ground floor via the Hillside Coffee entrance.
      There is no step-free access to exit the building on the second floor.
    • The approximate length of the route is 50m.
    • Access along the route includes a slight ramp.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
