Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative lift route to Floor 2. This route is via the AY/AZ lift to Level 02 in the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) and the external walkway to the Floor 2 entrance to Senate House (SE).
    • The approximate length of the route is 240m.
    • Access along the route includes steep ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lifts are not working, there are no alternative lift routes to Floors 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8. There is an alternative step-free route to Floor 1. This route is via the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) Level 00, through the Robert Boyle Building (AZ) to Level 01, and the external courtyard to Senate House (SE). There is a steep ramp, a platform lift, and key card operated automatic doors along this route.

    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (Floor 1)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on Floor 1 and the lift is not working, Floor 2 can be accessed via the exit towards the left of the lift. This route is via the external courtyard through the Robert Boyle Building (AZ) to Level 00, using the AY/AZ lift to Level 02 in the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY), and the external walkway to the Floor 2 entrance to Senate House (SE). There is a platform lift along this route.
    • The approximate length of the route is 275m.
    • Access along the route includes steep ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • No Alternative Lift Routes View
    • If you are on Floor 1 and lifts are not working, there are no alternative lift routes to Floors 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8. The ground floor can be accessed via the exit towards the left of the lift. This route is via the external courtyard through the Robert Boyle Building (AZ) to Level 00, and re-entering Senate House (SE) on the ground floor. There are key card operated manual doors, a platform lift, and steep ramps along this route.

Alternative Routes (Floor 2)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on Floor 2 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative lift route to the ground floor via the exit to the left of the lift. The exit has a push pad operated automatic door. This route is via the external walkway to the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) and the AY/AZ lift to the Level 00 exit, and re-entering Senate House (SE) on the ground floor.
    • The approximate length of the route is 170m.
    • Access along the route includes steep ramps.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on Floor 2 and the lift is not working, there is an alternative lift route to Floor 1 via the exit to the left of the lift. The exit has a push pad operated automatic door. This route is via the external walkway to the Dorothy Hodgkin Building (AY) and the AY/AZ lift to Level 00, through the Robert Boyle Building (AZ) to Level 01, and the external courtyard to Senate House (SE). There is a steep ramp, a platform lift, and key card operated automatic doors along this route.
