Alternative Routes (Ground Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative route to the first floor via the service lift.
      At the lift turn left and continue straight along the ground floor main corridor until you reach the entrance to the staff service corridor on the left.
      A member of staff is needed to gain access into this area.
      Enter the service corridor and take the service lift on the right to the first floor.
      Exit the lift and the entrance to the first floor main corridor is located on the left.
      There is step-free access to exit the building on the ground floor via the main entrance and first floor via the Pitchside Coffee entrance.
    • The approximate length of the route is 30m.
    • Access along the route is step free and level.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on the ground floor and the main lift and service lift are not working, there is an alternative route to the first floor via an external ramp to the rear of the building.
      At the lift turn around and exit the building via the main entrance.
      Take the path on the left and continue following the building around to the left.
      Continue straight ahead to the rear of the building, passing the car park until you reach the sports courts at the end.
      At the sports courts, turn left and carry on up the steep pathway until you reach the ramp on the left to Pitchside Coffee.
      Continue up the ramp and enter Pitchside Coffee via the external entrance.
      Pass through the café and the door to the first floor main corridor is located on the right.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 240m.
    • Access along the route includes steep slopes.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
  • Assistance Required View
    • If all lifts are out of service or you require emergency assistance please call 01483 682002 and Campus Safety will attend. Evacuation chairs are available.

Alternative Routes (First Floor)

  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 1 View
    • If you are on the first floor and the lift is not working, there is an alternative route to the ground floor via the staff service lift.
      At the lift turn left and continue along the first floor main corridor until the end.
      At the end on the left there is an entrance to the service corridor.
      A member of staff is required to access the service corridor.
      Enter via the service corridor entrance and turn right and take the service lift to the ground floor.
      As you exit the lift, take the entrance on the left and enter via the ground floor main corridor.
      You can also exit the building via the Pitchside Coffee rear entrance on the first floor and via the main entrance on the ground floor.
    • The approximate length of the route is 30m.
    • Access along the route is step free and level.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route and a key card or code is required.
  • Alternative Lift Route - Option 2 View
    • If you are on the first floor and the main lift and service lift are not working, there is an alternative route to the ground floor via an external ramp to the rear of the building.
      At the lift turn right then left towards Pitchside Coffee and continue passing through the café, exiting the building via the rear entrance.
      Turn left and continue down the ramp towards the sports courts.
      Carry on straight down the steep pathway and at the car park turn right.
      Continue straight ahead and carry on following the path round the side of the building.
      Turn right at the end of the path and follow the pavement around the front of the building and towards the main entrance.
      Enter the ground floor via the main entrance.
    • The approximate distance of the route is 260m.
    • Access along the route includes steep slopes.
    • There are manual doors to open along this route.
