Overview

Disability Advice Contact Details

  • The Student Centre brings together student support services, including Disability Advice, who provide confidential, pre-booked appointments in-person or online on a range of issues.
  • They also run drop-in sessions, events and other activities throughout the year.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free. There are many ways of approaching the building of which some have level approach, and some have slight slopes.
  • Arts A has nine entrances.
  • The accessible entrance provides step-free level access to level 1.
  • There are push pad activated automatic doors available at all nine entrances.
  • The entrances are signed as Welcome to Arts A Media, Arts and Humanities.
  • There are three entrances at the front of Arts A that have stepped access.
  • There are two entrances at the front of Arts A that have sloped access.
  • There is an entrance on the side of Arts A that has level access.
  • There are two internal entrances from Arts B on the ground floor and level 1. Both entrances have stepped access.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout majority of the building on all floors.
  • On the ground floor there are six clearly marked steps with handrails on both sides to access the seating/study area.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are carpeted.
  • There are resting areas in circulation and lobby areas with chairs with armrests.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are some manual doors along circulation routes throughout the building.

  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.

Toilet with Adaptations (Ground Floor - Left Hand Transfer)

    • The toilet surveyed is located to the left from the platform lift, along the ground floor corridor.
    • The distance from the platform lift is 25m.
    • The most accessible route to the toilet has step-free level access and doors permanently held open.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.

    • The door opens inwards automatically and has a low visual contrast.
