Overview

Disability Advice Contact Details

  • The Student Centre brings together student support services, including Disability Advice, who provide confidential, pre-booked appointments in-person or online on a range of issues.
  • They also run drop-in sessions, events and other activities throughout the year.

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight slopes.
  • Fulton Building has three entrances.
  • There are push pad activated, single automatic doors available at all three entrances.
  • All entrances are signed as Fulton.
  • The accessible entrance is located at the rear of the building and provides access to the lower ground floor.
  • The main entrance is located at the front of the building and has step-free access via a slight slope to the ground floor of the building.
  • The second floor entrance is located on the right hand side of the building and has step-free access via a slight slope.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors.
  • Floor surfaces along circulation routes are carpeted, hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors in some circulation routes throughout the building.

    • Toilets with adaptations are located on the ground floor, first floor and second floor.
    • All toilets with adaptations have a right hand transfer space.
    • Ambulant toilet facilities are located within the standard toilets on the ground floor, first floor and second floor.
    • The male and female step-free standard toilet facilities are located on the ground floor, first floor and second floor.

Parking (Refectory Road)

Entrance (Accessible Entrance)

  • There is a single automatic door at this entrance.
  • The door opens towards you.
  • There is a push pad at a height of 100cm.

  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.

  • There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 85cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.

Lift

  • The lift surveyed is located ahead from the accessible entrance.
  • The distance from accessible entrance is 4m.
  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
  • The lower ground floor, ground floor, first floor and second floor are accessed by this lift.
  • The lift door has a low visual contrast.
  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).

  • The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.

Toilet with Adaptations (Ground Floor - Right Hand Transfer)

    • The toilet surveyed is located to the right from the ground floor accessible entrance.
    • The distance from the ground floor accessible entrance is 17m.
    • The most accessible route to the toilet has step-free level access and manual doors.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards and has a high visual contrast.
    • The width of the door opening is 95cm.
    • The door has a lever twist lock.
    • Internally the door has a high visual contrast.
    • There is a grab rail on the internal door with a high visual contrast.
  • Dimensions and Features View
    • The dimensions of the cubicle are 160cm (width) x 220cm (depth) and there is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the right as you face the toilet, however it is obstructed.
    • The lateral transfer space is 100cm (from the side of the toilet pan).
