About
View
- Building X is a medium sized building arranged over two floors.
- This building can only be accessed from The Street, or from within Building E (also called E Block).
- Please refer to the Related Access Guides in the link below for information about external access to The Street, and internal access to Building E from within Building A.
There is a single stairwell between the ground floor and the first floor.- The floors are named G for the ground floor, and 1 for the first floor.
- There is internal step-free access between Building E and Building X on the ground floor.

Getting Inside
- The single external entrance to Building X is located off either of the lower or upper levels of The Street.
- There is step-free access from the upper level of The Street.
- There is only stepped access from the lower level of The Street.
- There is also an internal ramped entrance on the ground floor from E Block - Student Union and Student Wellbeing.
Getting Around
- There is step-free access on the ground floor.
- There is only stepped access to the first floor.
- Floor surfaces on the ground floor are hard and smooth.
- There is seating available on the left, just after the entrance on the ground floor.
- Wall-mounted wayfinding signage is provided on the ground floor.
- There are not manual doors in the main access corridor, only to access the stairwell.

- The toilet with adaptations is located on the first floor.
- The toilet with adaptations has a right hand transfer space.
- Ambulant toilet facilities are located within the female and male standard toilets on the first floor.

Access To (Entrance - The Street)
- There is only stepped access to Building X from the lower level of The Street.
- There is step-free access to Building X from the upper level of The Street.
- Access is described from the entrance to The Street from The Forum.

- The most accessible route has a steep ramp or slope, automatic doors and narrow walkways.
- The ramp has a steep gradient with resting areas.
- The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with a handrail on the right going up.
- The ramp bypasses the steps.
- There are 10 steps with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The steps are clearly marked.
- The height of the steps is not between 15cm and 18cm .
- The height of the highest step is 14cm.
- The depth of the steps is between 30cm and 45cm.
- There is no signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter Building X.
Entrance (Building X from The Street)
- This entrance is located immediately on the left after access from The Street.
- The entrance area is clearly signed.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single automatic door at this entrance.
- The door opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 77cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The door has a low visual contrast.
- There is a second single manual door.
- The second door opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- The second door has a low visual contrast.
Stairs
- The stairs surveyed are located at the end of the corridor after the entrance off The Street.
- There are double manual doors to access the stairwell.
- The ground floor and the first floor can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 20+ steps between floors.
- The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
