    • The Museum was an active RAF base from 1916 to 1996 and now houses exhibits on military and civilian aviation.
    • Facilities available in the venue include: cafe, shop, toilets and exhibitions.

    • The following effects can be experienced in some areas of the Museum:

Parking

Toilet and Changing Facilities

    • There are 2 toilets with adaptations.
    • The toilets with adaptations are located in the cafe and in the hangar area of the museum.
    • The transfer space varies between left and right in the toilets with adaptations.

Entrance

  • This entrance is located at the front of the museum, to the left hand side.

Reception/Shop

  • Location View
    • The reception is located to the right hand side, as you enter.
    • The distance from the second entrance door is 1m.

    • The most accessible route to the reception has step-free level access.
    • There are no doors to open along the most accessible route.
  • Access View
    • There is step-free level access to reception.
    • The height of the reception desk is 92cm.
    • There is not a lowered section at the desk.
    • The reception has patterned/distracting backgrounds which may affect the ability of someone to lip read.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.
    • There is background noise in this area which varies depending on the function/event.
    • Some flooring is shiny and patterned.
    • Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey, with unshaded light sources.

Stairs

  • The stairs are located to the left hand side, as you enter the Museum.
  • The ground floor and first floor can be accessed by these stairs.

  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The steps have some clear markings.

Exhibition Space

  • The area is indoors.

Toilet with Adaptations (Exhibition Area - Hangar 2)
