Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) has campuses in Glasgow and London, two of the busiest and most exciting cities in the UK. The Glasgow campus is very centrally located, with good public transport links and on-site parking. The campus grounds are relatively flat and all buildings are in close proximity to each other.
The University promotes a learning environment that minimises the impact that a disability can have on the student experience. The University values integrity, creativity, responsibility and confidence and is helping to build a fairer world through its research, teaching and community engagement. Teaching areas can be accessed by either lift or stair lift and entrances to all buildings have automatic doors, and ramps where applicable.
More detailed information regarding physical features of the campus and access to individual buildings on campus can be found in the individual accessibility guides.
If you have a disability that could impact your ability to safely exit an area of the GCU campus in the event of an emergency, you will require a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP). Weight restrictions apply to the lifts on campus, meaning some heavier powered wheelchairs/mobility scooters may be unsuitable. All lifts also automatically return to the ground floor when a fire alarm goes off. For advice on PEEPs, disabled applicants and students should contact our Disability Service. Disabled members of staff should contact their line manager. Guests or visitors should contact the person they are visiting, or the event organiser.
“The University has allowed me to grow as a person, it also provides me with the perfect mix – a fun social life, meeting loads of new people from all around the world and also a great mix educationally. The campus itself is incredibly modern and just a cool place to hang out in.” Yanira, Tourism Management student.
