About University of Surrey

The University of Surrey has a vibrant, enthusiastic and richly diverse culture. We are committed to creating and maintaining a friendly and welcoming campus-based community where our staff, students and visitors are able to benefit from an inclusive and supportive environment enabling them to fully participate in University life.

We want to attract students and staff with high potential to study and work here. As part of that we strive to ensure that the right support is in place for members of our community who are living with a disability, long term health condition, mental health condition or additional learning need.

As part of our pledge to continually make improvements to ensure that the campus is as accessible as possible, we have created a Facilities Improvement and Maintenance Plan to identify and remove any barriers to accessing buildings.

Support for students

The Disability and Neuroinclusion Team provide a confidential support service for all disabled students and all students with neurodiverse conditions including autism and specific learning differences.

All prospective students are encouraged to contact the Disability and Neurodiversity Team, explore the campus and discuss any specific support needs. For more information please visit the Disability and Neuroinclusion website

Support for staff

The University of Surrey is committed to ensuring that equal opportunities exist for all staff and that all employees are well supported to help them reach their full potential.

As a Disability Confident Employer, HR work closely with line managers and occupational health to ensure we are dedicated to recruiting skilled people, retaining and developing our staff through positive actions and demonstrating that we treat all employees fairly. The Human Resources Department works closely with the Centre for Wellbeing to ensure that reasonable adjustments and support needs for staff with disabilities are met.
